Sidekick
Definition
Sidekick is the AI copilot built into the Macha dashboard that works on Macha itself — building agents, wiring up custom tools, auditing and testing how your agents perform, answering docs questions, and surfacing workspace status. It doesn't touch your customer data.
What it does
Where the agents you build work on your data (tickets, orders, messages), Sidekick works on Macha. Open it with ⌘K / Ctrl K from anywhere in the app and it can:
- Build an agent from a plain-English description, recommending tools, drafting instructions, and suggesting a trigger
- Edit an existing agent — change its model, add a tool, attach a scheduled trigger
- Build and debug custom API tools, testing the endpoint live before saving
- Audit past agent conversations and score them against the agent's own instructions
- Test an agent on a fresh scenario — create a real ticket, run the agent against it, and write a review with concrete tweaks
- Answer questions about Macha from the indexed docs, and render usage charts inline
Boundaries
Sidekick deliberately can't read your live customer data (no fetching tickets or Stripe records in real time — that's what the agents you build are for), and it can't change billing or invite teammates. It confirms before any destructive action with a summary card, exposes its reasoning, and runs on its own usage tracking so it doesn't spend the credits your customer-facing agents use. It's available on every plan; custom-tool building is gated to Professional and Enterprise because custom tools are a paid feature.
Frequently asked
How is Sidekick different from an agent I build?
Your agents act on your business data — tickets, orders, customers. Sidekick acts on Macha itself: building, editing, auditing, and testing agents, and answering questions about the product. It can read past agent conversations to audit them, but not your live customer systems.
Do Sidekick questions cost credits?
No. Sidekick runs on its own usage tracking, separate from the credits your customer-facing agents consume.

Custom Tools
In Macha, a custom tool lets an AI agent call any HTTP API endpoint you configure — so an agent can read live data or take an action in a system Macha doesn't have a built-in connector for, without waiting for a marketplace app..
Agent Evaluation

AI Copilot
An AI copilot is an assistant that works alongside a human — suggesting replies, summarizing context, and surfacing information — while the person stays in control and makes the final decision, rather than acting autonomously..
