NICE CXone Mpower is what happens when a twenty-year-old contact center vendor spends over a billion dollars folding two AI acquisitions into one platform in a single year. This guide covers what Mpower actually is, how Enlighten AI and the newly acquired Cognigy work inside it, what the seven pricing tiers cost per agent, what real users say across three review sites, and where it fits against Genesys and a lighter alternative.

NICE CXone Mpower: The Complete Guide (2026)

We build AI agents for customer service ourselves, as a layer that sits on top of a help desk instead of a full contact center platform, so this guide reads Mpower from the outside: a serious enterprise platform playing a different game.

What is NICE CXone Mpower

NICE (styled NiCE) has sold contact center software since the 1990s, most recognizably as NICE inContact. CXone Mpower, which reached general availability in 2024, is the current name for its cloud platform: a merger of the CXone contact-center suite (routing, workforce management, quality management) with the Enlighten brand of AI products the company had been building for several years.

Then, in September 2025, NICE closed a $955 million acquisition of Cognigy, a conversational and agentic AI vendor whose platform supports autonomous AI agents in more than 100 languages. Cognigy is now folded into Mpower and still sold as a standalone product, which means a lot of what you'll read about "Mpower's AI agents" today is really Cognigy's engine wearing a NICE badge. That's worth knowing before you evaluate a demo: some of what looks new in Mpower is a recent acquisition still being integrated.

How NICE CXone Mpower's AI works

Mpower's AI is organized under the Enlighten brand, split into five named products: Autopilot for self-service automation, Copilot for Agents for real-time agent assist, Copilot for Supervisors for team-level insights, XO for voice and text analytics, and Actions for generative responses and recommendations. Each targets a different moment in a conversation instead of trying to be one general-purpose bot.

Copilot for Agents is the clearest example of the mechanism. According to NICE's own help documentation, it appears inside the agent workspace and generates a live summary of what's happening in an interaction, drafts email responses, answers questions from the knowledge base, and can hand off bounded tasks to a Cognigy-powered AI agent for process automation. It reads the current interaction and the connected knowledge sources, so a summary like "Edward is having a shipping problem with his book order" is grounded in that specific conversation instead of a template.

Cognigy's contribution sits one layer down: it's the engine behind the fully autonomous AI agents that can complete a process end to end, going past assisting a human to actually finishing the task. NICE's own documentation now lists "AI Agents (Cognigy) for Process Automation" as a distinct capability inside Copilot for Agents, which is a fairly direct admission of how the two platforms are being stitched together in the product itself.

Key features

  • Autopilot: self-service conversational AI for deflecting routine requests before they reach an agent.
  • Copilot for Agents: real-time summaries, sentiment, drafted email responses, and knowledge-base answers inside the agent workspace.
  • Copilot for Supervisors: coaching and performance insight generated from interaction data.
  • Enlighten XO: voice and text analytics that extract sentiment, intent, and compliance signals from recorded interactions.
  • Cognigy-powered AI agents: autonomous task automation in 100+ languages, acquired in September 2025 and now wired into Copilot for Agents.
  • Workforce and quality management: forecasting, scheduling, and quality scoring, carried over from the original CXone suite.
  • Omnichannel routing: voice and 30+ digital channels with a unified agent workspace.

NICE actually does publish real per-agent numbers directly and publicly on nice.com/pricing, no quote request or form required, for five of the seven tiers below, and those five match CX Today's previously reported breakdown exactly. The two lowest tiers in that breakdown, Digital Agent and Voice Agent, don't appear on the live page as of this check, so they're marked below as unconfirmed rather than given the same confidence as the rest:

PackageList priceWhat it adds
Digital Agent*$71/agent/monthDigital-first routing across 30+ channels
Voice Agent*$94/agent/monthVoice IVR with no-code configuration
Omnichannel Agent$110/agent/monthUnified voice + digital queuing and workspace
Essential Suite$135/agent/monthQuality management and coaching tools
Core Suite$169/agent/monthForecasting, scheduling, adherence insights
Complete Suite$209/agent/monthAI-driven analytics, sentiment, voice-of-customer
Ultimate Suite$249/agent/month + $0.25/sessionFull Enlighten AI, including Autopilot and Copilot

*Digital Agent and Voice Agent are CX Today's reported figures; nice.com/pricing did not show either tier on two separate direct checks (2026-09-17), only the five below. Confirm these two specifically with NICE before budgeting from them.

Two things stand out in that table. First, the AI you'd actually associate with "Mpower" mostly lives in the top tier: a team on Digital Agent or Voice Agent is paying $71 to $94 a seat for a fairly conventional contact center, with the generative and autonomous features arriving only at Ultimate Suite. Second, Ultimate Suite adds a $0.25 per-session consumption fee on top of the $249 seat price, so the real monthly cost scales with volume even after you've paid for the seat.

Run the arithmetic: a 50-agent team on Ultimate Suite pays 50 times $249, or $12,450 a month in seats, before a single session is counted. At 8,000 AI-handled sessions that month, add 8,000 times $0.25, or $2,000, for a total of $14,450 a month, roughly $180 per agent once the consumption fee is folded in. That's the structure worth understanding before a sales call: the headline seat price is the floor, and the AI usage fee is layered on top of that floor as you go. NICE's incentive here is fairly plain. It earns more per seat for the AI tier and more again per session once you're on it, so the pricing rewards NICE for both getting you to upgrade and for how much you actually use the AI, unlike a flat per-ticket model that charges the same regardless of tier.

Real users on NICE CXone Mpower

NICE CXone carries a 4.2 out of 5 rating on Capterra from 581 reviews (checked 2026-09-17) and a 4.1 out of 5 on PeerSpot from 29 reviews. A 4.3-ish figure shows up on G2 in secondary sources, but G2 blocked our direct fetch, so we're not citing a review count we couldn't confirm firsthand.

On Capterra, Vignesh K., a technical specialist at an outsourcing company with 5,001 to 10,000 employees, wrote that "the real-time analytics and customizable reporting tools make it easy for supervisors to monitor performance and optimize operations efficiently." Nick N., in workforce management at a financial services company with 501 to 1,000 employees, was more mixed: "We experience sync issues in real-time dashboards from time to time and we have agents getting logged out of CXone after being idle well before our timeout threshold."

PeerSpot's reviewer thread adds the sharper complaints: difficulty integrating with internal and third-party systems, a recurring feeling of being "nickel-and-dimed" by licensing and hidden fees (which lines up with the consumption-fee structure above), incomplete documentation, a dated interface that users want redesigned, slower support on complex issues, and delays in real-time stat updates. None of these are dealbreakers on their own, but together they describe a mature enterprise platform whose seams show once you're deep inside it.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Genuinely broad platform: routing, workforce management, quality management, and AI in one contract.
  • Copilot for Agents grounds its suggestions in the live interaction and connected knowledge base.
  • Cognigy's acquisition adds a proven agentic-AI engine with 100+ languages already built and shipping.
  • Analyst and review recognition across G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, and Gartner Peer Insights.

Cons

  • The AI features that justify the "Mpower" name mostly sit behind the top pricing tier.
  • A per-session consumption fee on top of the seat price, which reviewers describe as easy to underestimate.
  • Recurring complaints about integration difficulty, documentation, and a dated interface.
  • Cognigy's integration is recent (closed September 2025), so buyers should ask specifically how deep the two products are actually merged today versus sold side by side.

Who NICE CXone Mpower is best for

Mpower fits teams running large, multi-channel contact centers that want one vendor for routing, workforce management, quality management, and AI, with the budget and procurement process for an enterprise CCaaS contract. It suits a team already comparing Genesys or Five9 more than one comparing chat widgets.

It's a poor fit for a team whose real problem is ticket volume inside a help desk, not call center operations. It's also a heavy, expensive way to get generative AI when a lighter, help-desk-native tool would solve the same problem for a fraction of the seat cost.

NICE and Genesys are both playing the same game: a broad contact-center platform with AI layered across every tier, priced per seat, sold to enterprises with a procurement process. Macha is a different kind of tool built for a different buyer: a support team that already has a help desk and wants agents acting on the ticket queue directly, without buying a new contact center platform to get there. If your team's actual bottleneck is Zendesk or Freshdesk tickets, Macha is a far cheaper and faster way to get AI into the workflow than upgrading to an enterprise CCaaS suite's top tier. See pricing for the current numbers.

How we researched this: we checked NICE's own product and pricing pages, its help-center documentation, and Cognigy's newsroom directly on 2026-09-17 for the acquisition and feature claims. Per-agent tier pricing for five of seven tiers (Omnichannel Agent through Ultimate Suite) was confirmed directly and publicly on nice.com/pricing, matching CX Today's previously published breakdown exactly; the two lowest tiers in that breakdown (Digital Agent, Voice Agent) could not be reconfirmed on the live page across two separate fetches and are flagged as unconfirmed. Review data came from Capterra and PeerSpot directly; G2 blocked automated access, so its figures are noted as unconfirmed rather than cited as fact.

FAQ

What is NICE CXone Mpower? It's NICE's cloud contact center platform, combining the original CXone suite (routing, workforce management, quality management) with the Enlighten AI product line and, since September 2025, the acquired Cognigy agentic-AI engine.

How much does NICE CXone Mpower cost? NICE publishes packages from $110 to $249 per agent per month directly on nice.com/pricing, no quote request required. Two additional, cheaper tiers reported elsewhere (Digital Agent at $71, Voice Agent at $94) could not be reconfirmed on the current live pricing page. The top tier, Ultimate Suite, adds a $0.25 per-session consumption fee on top of the seat price.

Is NICE CXone Mpower the same as Cognigy? No. Cognigy is a company NICE acquired for $955 million in September 2025. Its AI-agent engine is now integrated into Mpower's Copilot for Agents and is also still sold as a standalone product.

What is Enlighten AI? Enlighten is NICE's AI product family inside Mpower: Autopilot for self-service, Copilot for Agents and Copilot for Supervisors for real-time assist, XO for interaction analytics, and Actions for generative responses.

Does NICE CXone Mpower require the top pricing tier to get AI? Full Enlighten AI, including Autopilot and Copilot, is part of Ultimate Suite, the top of seven tiers. Lower tiers get a more conventional contact center without the generative and autonomous features.

What are the best NICE CXone Mpower alternatives? Genesys Cloud CX is the closest direct comparison for an enterprise evaluating a full CCaaS platform. For automating support tickets inside an existing help desk instead of running a contact center, Macha is a smaller, cheaper, and faster tool to deploy.

What do NICE CXone reviewers complain about most? Integration difficulty with internal systems, a per-session fee reviewers describe as easy to underestimate, incomplete documentation, and a dated interface are the most consistent themes across Capterra and PeerSpot.

NICE CXone Mpower makes sense if you need one enterprise vendor for your whole contact center. If your actual bottleneck is the ticket queue in Zendesk or Freshdesk, start a Macha trial or check /pricing first.
