Best Zendesk Migration and Backup Apps (2026): 31 Marketplace Apps Scored
The best-scoring Zendesk migration and backup app in October 2026 is PDF Export Download for Tickets, a free ticket-to-PDF tool that scores 8 of 10 on our five public criteria. Behind it, 18 apps tie on 7. Help Desk Migration has the most reviews of the 18, and it's the only app here with more than 50. We scored 31 third-party Marketplace apps that move Zendesk Support data in or out, export it, or keep a copy of your triggers, macros and fields. We wrote up 15 of them and show every score.
Key takeaways
- PDF Export Download for Tickets tops the list at 8 of 10 because it is free, current and works from the ticket sidebar.
- Help Desk Migration is the only app here with 50 or more reviews, 161 averaging 4.96, but as a hosted service it scores 1 on setup and on working in the ticket.
- Zendesk's own CSV, JSON and XML exports are off until the account owner asks Zendesk Customer Support to turn them on, and aren't offered on Team plans.
- Configuration backup is the newest corner: Config Guardian, listed in October 2026, restores triggers inactive by default and charges $69 a month for restore.
- Migration services price by record or by project, so the cheapest lever on a migration quote is how much old history you choose to move.

Tiers: 8 (app 1), 7 (apps 2-19), 6 (apps 20-27), 5 (apps 28-30), 4 (app 31). Scores for Advanced Export and Exporter match the ones they got in our other Zendesk roundups. Averages are computed from the catalog's per-star counts.
How we scored them
We kept third-party apps whose main job is moving Zendesk Support data or configuration in or out, or keeping a copy of it. Apps for help center content only, privacy deletion or macros only are left to other roundups. Each app is scored 0 to 2 on five criteria.
| Criterion | 2 points | 1 point | 0 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace reviews | Average 4.5+ with 50+ reviews | 4.0+ with 10+ reviews | Fewer or none |
| Published price | Full price on the listing or vendor site | A free tier or "from" price only | Contact sales |
| Works in the ticket | Acts inside the ticket or agent workspace with documented features | View-only or limited | Unclear |
| Setup effort | Marketplace install with documented self-serve setup | Needs configuration help or an onboarding call | Custom work or undocumented |
| Maintained | Listing or app updated in the last 12 months | 12 to 24 months | Older or unknown |
Maintained uses the "Last updated" date on each listing. We counted only plans the catalog marks active. A "from" or "starting at" price scores 1, and so does a per-record example without a full price list. Works in the ticket scores 2 only for apps in the ticket sidebar or editor; most apps here run from the nav bar and score 1. Hosted services with no Marketplace install score 1 on setup and 1 on working in the ticket. Ties are broken by review count, then installs, then name.
What Zendesk does without an app
Zendesk's data importer bulk-imports users, organizations, custom object records and IT asset records. For export, Zendesk's account data exports produce JSON, CSV or XML files, but they aren't enabled by default: the account owner has to ask Zendesk Customer Support to turn them on. They aren't available on Team plans, and the same page says AI agent tickets can't be exported. Our guide to exporting data from Zendesk walks through the native route.
Top score, 8 of 10
1. PDF Export Download for Tickets: a free PDF of any ticket, 8/10
Ino Studio Lab's app puts a download button in the ticket sidebar and turns the ticket into a PDF with status, tags, requester, assignee and comments in order, with internal notes and side conversations as options. A search screen exports up to 50 tickets at once as a ZIP. The listing says it is "100% Free" and that PDFs are built in the agent's browser with no third-party servers. It has 137 installs and one review, 12 months old, which reads: "It includes side conversations & FREE , unlike other add-ons who charge just for side conversation." It was updated November 26, 2025.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 2, setup 2, maintained 2.
Fifty tickets per ZIP makes this a records tool for disputes and handovers, not an account backup.
Second tier, 7 of 10
Eighteen apps tie here. Review count sets the order, not quality.
2. Help Desk Migration: the hosted migration with the most reviews, 7/10
Relokia's Help Desk Migration is a hosted Migration Wizard that imports into Zendesk from more than 100 platforms or CSV, exports out of Zendesk, and merges or splits Zendesk accounts. It moves tickets with comments, attachments, custom fields, side conversations and the knowledge base. A free demo moves 20 tickets and 20 articles, and Delta Migration catches records created after the full run. It has 161 reviews averaging 4.96. Kathleen Taylor wrote five months ago that the team "successfully assisted us with migrating from Microsoft Dynamics to Zendesk." David Rowe, seven months ago: "There was a small hiccup during the process, but it was resolved promptly by the team."
Scores: reviews 2, price 1, works in the ticket 1, setup 1, maintained 2.
Its pricing page gives no price list, only an example: a basic migration on the Essential plan "runs $100 for 1,000 records," and 10,000 records cost $514. Per-record pricing means the vendor earns more the more history you move, so its date and status filters are your main lever on the bill. See what moves in a Zendesk migration.
3. Advanced Export: the cheapest full account export, 7/10
Advanced Export from OAPPS.IO exports tickets with comments, users, organizations and Help Center articles to XLSX, CSV, HTML or JSON. Version 2.4.0 in February 2026 added PDF ticket archives with side conversations. It has 596 installs and 13 reviews averaging 3.77. The free plan exports 100 + 100 entities per export; Professional costs $49 a month and raises that to 100,000. An anonymous reviewer wrote more than a year ago that "without any prior notice, the free quota was reduced by a factor of 10," and the developer replied that the free limit had been updated.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
For a one-off backup before leaving Zendesk, one month of Professional at $49 covers it.
4. Advanced Search Plus: search first, then export the result, 7/10
Swifteq's Advanced Search Plus searches tickets, users and organizations with more filters than Zendesk's search and exports results to CSV or PDF free. Bulk Changes, $99 a month after a 7-day trial, applies changes to 1,000 or more records in one go. It has 544 installs and 7 reviews, all five stars. Charalampos Haris Matthaiou wrote 12 months ago: "It helps agents avoid creating Views for one-off listings."
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
The free tier is the point: export is free and Swifteq charges for writing back.
5. Bulk User Export: free, popular, poorly reviewed, 7/10
Amrut Software's Bulk User Export lists users and exports them to Excel, CSV or PDF, or copies them to the clipboard. It's free, has 736 installs, and its listing was updated in March 2026. Its three reviews average 2.0 and are six to seven years old; they asked for user custom fields, tag filters and agent roles. The listing still notes that it can't export by custom role.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
The listing date earns the maintained point, but the app is still version 1.0 and its last code update in the catalog is June 2019.
6. Ticket Search & Export: keyword search with comment history, 7/10
eclect, a Zendesk implementation partner in Japan, sells Ticket Search & Export for $120 a month after a 7-day trial. It searches by keyword or custom field contents and exports up to 10,000 tickets, comments included, to CSV. Saved searches live in a Zendesk custom object when available. Its one review, 22 days old, says it was the "only app I could find that let me export based on key word search results and also let me export the ticket comment history." User and organization versions are in the table at 7.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
At $120 a month it costs more than Advanced Export Professional; the difference is keyword search.
9. Ticket Field Importer: dropdown options from a spreadsheet, 7/10
Eastern Logic's Ticket Field Importer creates or updates dropdown ticket fields from a CSV, processed in the browser. It costs $10 a month after a 7-day trial. Its one review, about three years old, says: "What used to take HOURS now takes MINUTES." It was updated in April 2026.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
It suits the step before a migration, when a product list with hundreds of values has to exist as a field first.
10. Import app: review the rows before anything is written, 7/10
Zenplates' Import app loads users, organizations and tickets, up to 50,000 per import, and groups, into an editable table. You fix invalid rows, filter and sort, then import and download a report with the new record IDs. Comments and attachments aren't supported. It costs $249 once, runs on Zendesk's app framework with no Zenplates servers, and was updated in October 2026.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
At $249 once it beats a $10 monthly app after 25 months, and it handles tickets, which the native data importer doesn't.
11. Trigger Manager: every trigger in one CSV, free, 7/10
Blue Canary Software's Trigger Manager exports all triggers, with status, conditions and actions, to one CSV. It's free, has 32 installs, and was updated in March 2026. Blue Canary asks only for a review in return. A CSV is a record, not a restore: you can't load it back.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
12. User Export Pro: filtered user exports in the browser, 7/10
SupportZen's User Export Pro filters users by role, tags, organization, login activity and custom role, previews the result, then exports up to 10,000 users to CSV or JSON. Files are built in the admin's browser. It's free and was updated in April 2026.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
It covers the custom-role and login filters Bulk User Export's reviewers asked for.
13. Configly: a free scan, with snapshots on the paid platform, 7/10
Configly's free app scans your account for triggers pointing at deleted groups, automations that haven't fired in months and macros nobody uses. Versioned snapshots, diffs and pushing changes across instances live on the paid platform; Configly's pricing lists Solo at $129 a month, Multi-Instance at $449 and a 14-day trial. Unlike the browser-only apps here, Configly stores configuration metadata and snapshots on its own platform.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
16. Bulk Export: scheduled exports for large accounts, 7/10
Gravity CX's Bulk Export runs ticket, user and organization exports to CSV in the background, so you can close the app while hundreds of thousands of records process. Exports can repeat daily, weekly or monthly and email a link. Private comments are never exported. Files are stored encrypted in AWS Sydney, and links expire after 7 days. It costs $49 a month after a 3-day trial and was listed in October 2026.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
A weekly schedule is the closest thing here to an automatic data backup; check that Australian storage suits your data residency rules.
17. Super Duper Search: configuration as a readable workbook, 7/10
LaPlante Management, a Zendesk implementation partner, built Super Duper Search to search macros, rules, dynamic content and Help Center catalogs and export them as Excel workbooks. The listing calls its combined workbooks "configuration snapshots, not full-instance backups." It costs $10 a month after a 14-day trial that needs a card, and was updated October 22, 2026.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
18. Bulk Export Workflows: triggers, automations and macros to Excel, 7/10
IT BYTES' app downloads triggers, automations and macros as Excel files with filters, for audits, documentation or moving to a new instance. It costs $10 a month and was updated in May 2026. It has no reviews or recorded installs.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
19. Config Guardian: snapshots you can restore, 7/10
Config Guardian, built by Pablo Simón, an independent developer in Ireland, snapshots triggers, automations, macros, views, fields, forms, groups, custom statuses, dynamic content, SLA policies and schedules. It compares a snapshot with the live account or with another snapshot. Restore simulates first, takes a copy right before writing, rewires dependent rules, and writes triggers and automations inactive by default. Free covers snapshots and comparison; Pro at $69 a month adds restore and storage inside Zendesk; Business at $149 adds sandbox-to-production restore. Snapshots run only when an admin opens the app.
Scores: reviews 0, price 2, works in the ticket 1, setup 2, maintained 2.
It has no installs or reviews yet, so you'd be an early user. It's the only app here that puts a deleted trigger back.
The rest of the field
Apps 7, 8, 14 and 15 tie on 7 but repeat a job above: Export Pro's one review, 12 months old, says "Not loading" and its listing dates to April 2025. Exporter (20) has the most installs here, 1,151, but its listing was last updated May 29, 2025. ClonePartner (28) is the best-reviewed service in the lower tiers: three five-star reviews for moves from Help Scout, Salesforce and Gorgias, and "migrations starting at $500," with most projects at $3,000 to $10,000 per its pricing page. Knots' PDF archive (24) exports by rule to SFTP or cloud storage but is priced only inside Knots plans from $269 a month. OpsHub (31) is a contact-sales enterprise tool. For a Freshdesk move, klamp.ai (27) prices its migration service from $999 for up to 50,000 records; compare it with our Freshdesk to Zendesk guide.
What migrations and restores change for an AI agent
On Zendesk, Macha's tools read the ticket, its comments, custom field values and field definitions, and search past tickets. They write status, priority, custom fields, tags, internal notes and public replies. A migration or restore changes all of those inputs at once, so we check four things before an agent goes live on an account that has just moved.
First, history. Macha's AI Knowledge Builder builds a knowledge base out of historical tickets, and agent simulations replay past tickets against an agent. If comments or side conversations didn't come across, there's less to learn from, so we look at what the import kept (see past tickets as a knowledge base). Second, tags. Help Desk Migration can tag every migrated ticket, which lets the agent's trigger exclude imported tickets with the same tag-and-exclude pattern we use to stop loops. Third, field definitions. Imported dropdown values become the values the agent writes, so we read the field definitions again after an import. Fourth, restored rules. Config Guardian restores triggers inactive by default, so we confirm the agent's trigger and webhook are active and that the payload is in the trigger body. Then we run a simulation on real tickets and check whether replies post as internal notes or public.
Where AI fits
Every app above moves or copies records. None of them answers a ticket. Macha runs AI agents inside the Zendesk account you already have, set up and monitored by the Macha team, and fits teams that have finished a move and want agents working from the history they brought with them. Pricing starts at $299/month for 750 tickets, with a trial of $50 of free usage (about 125 tickets), no credit card, no time limit.
Which one fits your situation?
- You're moving to Zendesk from another help desk: Help Desk Migration, or ClonePartner for an engineer-led project.
- You need a full export before leaving Zendesk: Advanced Export Professional for a month, or Zendesk's native export if your plan has it.
- You want an export on a schedule: Bulk Export.
- You need one ticket as a document: PDF Export Download for Tickets.
- Someone might break a trigger: Config Guardian, or a free Trigger Manager CSV as a record.
- You're loading users and tickets from a spreadsheet: Import app, and test it in a sandbox first.
FAQs
What are the best Zendesk migration and backup apps?
On our rubric, PDF Export Download for Tickets scores 8 of 10. Eighteen apps tie on 7, including Help Desk Migration, Advanced Export, Advanced Search Plus, Import app, Bulk Export and Config Guardian.
Can I back up my Zendesk account?
Zendesk's native JSON, CSV and XML exports cover tickets, users and organizations once Zendesk enables them, on plans above Team. Apps like Advanced Export and Bulk Export cover the same data from inside Zendesk, and Config Guardian or Configly snapshot your configuration.
How much does a Zendesk migration cost?
Help Desk Migration's own example is $100 for 1,000 records and $514 for 10,000 on its Essential plan with no custom options. ClonePartner starts at $500 per project and says most fall between $3,000 and $10,000.
Can I back up Zendesk triggers and macros?
Yes. Trigger Manager and Bulk Export Workflows export them to CSV or Excel as a record. Config Guardian keeps snapshots and, on Pro at $69 a month, restores them with a simulation first.

How we researched this
On October 30, 2026 we queried the Zendesk Marketplace catalog, 1,812 apps, for apps that import, export, migrate, archive or back up Zendesk Support data or configuration: 68 name matches plus a description search for backup and snapshot apps. We kept 31 third-party apps and we checked every listing on zendesk.co.uk in a rendered browser the same day, taking prices only from plans the catalog marks active. Vendor prices come from Help Desk Migration's, ClonePartner's, Configly's, Fivetran's, klamp.ai's and Knots' own pricing pages, read the same day. Zendesk's native import and export facts come from its own help center. We didn't install or test any app or contact any vendor, and scores use public pages only.
Prices are shown in US dollars, as the listings and vendor pages publish them.
Disclosure: Macha makes AI agents that run inside help desks. Nobody paid to be listed, and Macha is not ranked here.
