Botpress Pricing (2026): Plans, Real Costs and What You'll Actually Pay
Botpress costs $150 a month for Plus or $750 a month for Team when billed annually, or $189 and $939 billed monthly, with 250 or 1,500 conversations included and extra conversations sold in packs of 100 for $65 on Plus or $50 on Team. AI model usage is included up to a set allowance ($25 on Plus, $150 on Team) and billed at cost beyond it, the Free plan gives 25 conversations, and Enterprise is quoted. Below are the plan table, the conversation rules that decide the bill, where Plus stops being cheaper than Team, and worked monthly costs at 500, 3,000 and 10,000 conversations.
Key takeaways
- Botpress bills per conversation, not per message: billed annually, Plus is $150 a month for 250 conversations and Team is $750 a month for 1,500, with 100-conversation packs at $65 or $50.
- A conversation counts as any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month, and three minutes of a voice call counts as one conversation.
- AI usage is included up to $25 a month on Plus and $150 on Team, or $0.10 per included conversation, before $10 AI grants kick in at 95% of the limit.
- Plus stays cheaper than Team up to 1,150 conversations a month on annual billing or 1,350 on monthly billing; above that, Team's unlimited seats and lower pack price win out.
- At 3,000 conversations a month, Botpress on Team costs $1,500 billed annually, compared with $1,485 on Intercom Fin at a 50% outcome rate and $140 to $380 on Voiceflow.

Prices checked September 19, 2026 on Botpress's pricing page, in both billing views.
The pricing page has a slider that recalculates each plan at your volume, which is the Botpress pricing calculator people search for. At 3,000 conversations a month on annual billing it shows Plus at $1,970 and Team at $1,500, and recommends Team. Our Botpress guide covers the builders (Viber, Studio, the ADK) and Botpress Desk. This page stays on the bill.
What changed in May 2026, and who it applies to
Botpress moved to conversation pricing with a pricing update on May 14, 2026. It replaced per-message billing with per-conversation billing, bundled AI spend into every plan ("each conversation you purchase includes a proportional AI quota"), dropped the paid bot add-on so every paid plan has unlimited bots, and introduced Botpress Desk and a done-for-you service.
Two details in that post matter for anyone comparing numbers. First, "Existing workspaces will keep our previous pricing," so a workspace created before May 14, 2026 is on the old plans, and a quote from a current customer may not match this page. Second, the post announced a Free plan with 100 conversations and a "Built For You" plan at $1,650 a month. On September 19 the pricing page showed Free at 25 conversations and the done-for-you service as "Contact us." Ranking reviews that still quote an $89 Plus or a $495 Team plan describe the pricing before May.
What counts as a conversation
The unit is broader than the word suggests. Botpress's FAQ says:
- "Any exchange with at least two messages from the end user in the billing month counts as a conversation."
- "A conversation that spans two months counts in both months."
- "Multiple anonymous sessions each count as separate conversations."
- "For voice calls, 3 minutes counts as 1 conversation."
- "AI-only and human-assisted conversations are counted the same, as well as emulator conversations."
Each rule adds to the count in a specific situation. A customer who says "hi" and never follows up doesn't count, because the rule needs two end-user messages. A customer who returns on a new device without logging in counts twice. A ticket that runs from January 30 to February 2 counts in both months. Conversations your team runs in the emulator while testing a new flow count against the same quota as customers, so a busy build month eats into what you paid for. And a conversation a human agent handles in Botpress Desk with no AI at all is billed the same as one the agent resolved.
The AI allowance, and when it runs out
Plus includes $25 of AI usage for 250 conversations and Team $150 for 1,500, which works out to $0.10 of model spend per included conversation. Models are billed "at the same pricing (at cost)" as buying from the provider directly, according to Botpress's Anthropic integration page.
How far does $0.10 go? We can't measure a Botpress conversation, but we can price a real one. One turn of the order-desk agent we tested on Voiceflow read 3,499 input tokens and wrote 127, the prompt plus a tool definition plus one customer question. At Anthropic's list prices, that turn costs about $0.0124 on Claude Sonnet 4.6 ($3 per million input tokens, $15 per million output) and $0.0207 on Claude Opus 4.7 ($5 and $25). So $0.10 covers about eight turns on Sonnet 4.6 and under five on Opus 4.7. Conversation history grows each turn, so long threads run out sooner. The figure is indicative, since a Botpress agent's prompt won't be the same size as ours.
When a workspace reaches 95% of its AI spend limit, the FAQ says Botpress "automatically purchase[s] a $10 credit grant of AI spend on your behalf, sold at cost." Unlike conversation packs, unused grants carry over "for up to 12 months." The $10 size and the 95% trigger "aren't configurable yet," and a monthly spend cap is described as coming soon.
Plus or Team: where the cheaper plan flips
Plus adds conversations at $65 per 100 and Team at $50, so Plus stays cheaper until its packs cost more than Team's higher base fee. Packs come in whole hundreds.
- Billed annually: Plus at 1,150 conversations is $150 + 9 packs × $65 = $735, under Team's $750. At 1,151 it needs a tenth pack, $800, and Team becomes cheaper.
- Billed monthly: Plus at 1,350 is $189 + 11 × $65 = $904, under Team's $939. From 1,351 Team is cheaper. The calculator agrees: at 1,300 conversations billed monthly it recommends Plus at $904 over Team at $939.
Team is often the answer before the arithmetic says so, because Plus has 3 seats and Team has unlimited seats, routing, roles and team analytics. A support team of five can't run on Plus without sharing logins.
Worked costs at three volumes
Assumptions: the cheapest plan plus whole packs of 100, conversations that stay inside the $0.10 AI allowance, and no storage add-on. Seats cost nothing extra on these picks.
| Monthly volume | Who this is | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Per conversation (annual) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 conversations | A small store's web chat | Plus: $150 + 3 packs × $65 = $345 | Plus: $189 + $195 = $384 | $0.69 |
| 3,000 conversations | A mid-size support team | Team: $750 + 15 packs × $50 = $1,500 | Team: $939 + $750 = $1,689 | $0.50 |
| 10,000 conversations | A large chat queue | Team: $750 + 85 packs × $50 = $5,000 | Team: $939 + $4,250 = $5,189 | $0.50 |
Annual billing saves $189 a month on Team, or $2,268 a year, but commits $9,000 for the base plan up front. Above about 1,500 conversations the pack price sets the bill, and the annual saving is fixed, so it shrinks as a share: 11% of the monthly bill at 3,000 conversations and 4% at 10,000.
At 9,750 conversations the calculator stops recommending a self-serve plan and suggests Enterprise, with Team at $4,900 a month billed annually. Enterprise adds the voice channel, an uptime SLA and a security review, and its price isn't published.
What drives the bill up
Packs you can't switch off. The FAQ answers "Can I turn off auto-recharge for conversation packs?" with "No." A pack is added at 95% of quota, "packs persist month-to-month until you remove them in billing settings," and unused conversations in a pack expire at month end. One busy month raises every later month until someone removes the packs by hand.
Counting rules. Test conversations, anonymous repeat sessions and month-spanning threads all count, as covered above. A team that tests heavily in the emulator should budget for it.
Long or model-heavy conversations. Anything over $0.10 of model spend per conversation draws $10 grants at cost. A premium model, a large knowledge base or long threads push you there.
Compliance and voice. The plan comparison shows a DPA on Team and Enterprise, and a BAA for HIPAA only on Enterprise. Voice is Enterprise-only, with three minutes counted as one conversation.
Storage. Plus and Team can add 100,000 table rows, 1GB of vector storage and 10GB of files for $40 a month.
Enterprise and done-for-you pricing
Enterprise is quoted, and we found no public contract price. On September 19, 2026 we searched AWS Marketplace for a Botpress listing and found none, and Vendr has no Botpress page. The only first-party figure is the $1,650 a month "Built For You" price in the May 2026 announcement, which the current pricing page no longer shows. Treat it as a starting point for a conversation with sales, not a quote.
Botpress also publishes a comparison on its site: $9,000 a year on Botpress against $34,500 on Zendesk and $25,500 on Intercom, for 4 seats and 1,200 conversations a month. The $9,000 is Team billed annually. The comparison counts the help desk seats Botpress Desk would replace, which is the point of it.
What the billing unit rewards
Botpress argues for its unit on the pricing page: "Resolution pricing creates disputes over what 'resolved' means and, perversely, raises your bill when your bot gets smarter. With conversation pricing, a better bot means lower headcount cost — not a higher invoice." That holds. Per-resolution pricing earns the vendor more as the agent improves, and conversation pricing doesn't.
The incentive runs the other way on failure. A conversation the agent fumbles and a human finishes costs the same as one the agent resolved, and so does a test run in the emulator. Botpress earns the same whether the agent helps or not, so the buyer carries the risk of a bad agent. The pack rules add a floor that ratchets up: auto-added packs can't be switched off and stay until removed. And the seat-free pricing, "Every agent you add costs $165/month on Zendesk, $114/month on Intercom, and $0 on Botpress" on its Desk page per our guide, is a pitch to move the human team into Botpress Desk too, which makes Botpress the owner of the whole support budget.
How Botpress compares at 3,000 conversations
Same volume, rivals' prices from their live pages on September 19, 2026 or our shared facts file.
| Platform | Billing unit | Cost at 3,000 a month | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botpress | Conversations (two or more user messages), packs of 100 | $1,500 annual, $1,689 monthly | AI to $0.10 a conversation included; unlimited seats on Team |
| Voiceflow | Plan fee as a minimum, then $0.005 per customer message plus model tokens | $140 (Core 4.2) to $380 (GPT-5.5), plus editor seats | Human chat hand-off, SSO and HIPAA are Enterprise-only |
| Chatbase | Message credits | Standard $150 + 8,000 credits at $40 per 1,000 = $470 | Assumes one credit per AI reply over 4 replies a chat |
| Fin | Outcomes, $0.99 each, 50-outcome minimum | $1,485 if half end as outcomes | Plus help desk seats |
| Macha | Tickets in your help desk | $1,199 for 3,000 tickets | Works tickets inside Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom |
Voiceflow is cheaper on usage by a wide margin, because it passes model cost through with a markup instead of charging per conversation, but it charges for editor seats and keeps handoff and compliance on Enterprise. Chatbase is the simpler widget. Fin charges only when a conversation ends as an outcome, so a weak month costs less. Botpress's $0.50 a conversation buys unlimited seats and a help desk, which matters most if you would otherwise pay for help desk seats.
Macha fits teams already running Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom whose volume arrives as tickets there. It's an AI agent layer on that help desk: it reads the ticket, looks up the order, writes the reply or internal note and tags it, and a ticket is one charge however many replies it takes, whichever model runs it. The Macha team builds and monitors the agents on every plan. If you want to build and own a chat agent across your website and WhatsApp, Botpress is the better fit. See Macha on your help desk or our overview of AI agents for customer service.
What users say about Botpress pricing
Botpress rates 4.5 out of 5 from 37 reviews on Capterra (value for money 4.38, ease of use 4.14, customer service 4.03), checked September 19, 2026. Its Trustpilot profile is unclaimed with no reviews. G2 confirms the vendor's own badge: 4.5 out of 5 from 512 reviews, checked September 19, 2026.
- Jean-Francois F., a web director at an IT services firm, on Capterra in May 2024: "The interface, pricing, and support are the three main reasons we chose Botpress over other products."
- A verified AI engineer in e-learning, on Capterra in February 2024, asked Botpress to "consider pricing for non dollar contries."
Both reviews predate the May 2026 pricing, so they describe the old per-message plans. The Capterra complaints we read were about the learning curve and the documentation more than the price.
How we researched this
On September 19, 2026 we read Botpress's pricing page in a browser in both billing views, moved the calculator to 1,300, 3,000 and 9,750 conversations and recorded its figures, and read the FAQ, the plan comparison, the May 2026 pricing announcement and the Anthropic integration page. We did not build an agent on Botpress: its registration rejected the disposable address we use for test accounts on September 18 ("not from a valid email provider"), and we don't sign up with real identities. That means we couldn't see the in-app AI spend meter, and the "how far $0.10 goes" figures use a turn we measured on Voiceflow, priced at Anthropic's list rates. We searched AWS Marketplace and Vendr for Botpress contract pricing and found neither.
Is Botpress worth the price?
At $0.50 a conversation on Team, Botpress costs about the same as Fin at a 50% outcome rate, and it includes unlimited seats and a help desk. It suits a support team that wants one vendor for the chat agent and the inbox, and that tests carefully in the emulator. It suits less well a team with a small queue and heavy testing, because every emulator conversation and every repeat anonymous visit is billed, and the auto-added packs keep charging until someone removes them.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Botpress cost per month? Plus is $189 a month billed monthly or $150 billed annually, with 250 conversations. Team is $939 monthly or $750 annually, with 1,500. Extra conversations cost $65 per 100 on Plus and $50 per 100 on Team. Enterprise is quoted.
Is Botpress free? There's a Free plan with 25 conversations a month, 3 seats and 3 AI agents, and no top-ups or overages. Botpress's May 2026 announcement said 100 conversations, but the pricing page showed 25 on September 19, 2026.
What counts as a conversation in Botpress? Any exchange with at least two end-user messages in the billing month. Conversations that span two months count in both, anonymous sessions count separately, three minutes of voice counts as one, and human-handled and emulator conversations count the same as AI ones.
Is AI usage included in Botpress pricing? Yes, up to $25 a month on Plus and $150 on Team, which is $0.10 per included conversation. Beyond that Botpress buys $10 grants of AI spend at the model provider's price when you reach 95% of the limit.
Can I cap my Botpress bill? Not fully. Conversation packs are added automatically at 95% of quota and can't be turned off, and the AI grant settings aren't configurable yet. You get warnings at 75% and 100% of quota, and you can remove packs in billing settings.
Is Plus or Team cheaper? Plus is cheaper up to 1,150 conversations a month on annual billing and up to 1,350 on monthly billing. Above that Team costs less, and it adds unlimited seats and routing.
How much does a chatbot cost per month? On Botpress, from $0 for 25 conversations to $345 a month for 500 on annual billing and $1,500 for 3,000. Per-message builders like Voiceflow can cost less on usage at the same volume; per-outcome products like Fin cost more when the agent resolves more.
Is Botpress safe? The plan comparison lists a DPA on Team and Enterprise, and a BAA for HIPAA only on Enterprise, along with domain restrictions and an audit log of workspace changes. Ask for the security review during procurement; it's an Enterprise feature.
What are some alternatives to Botpress? Voiceflow for a design-led builder with a public rate card, Chatbase for a simpler content-trained chat widget, Fin for per-outcome pricing, and Macha if your tickets already live in Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias or Front.
If your support queue is already in one of those help desks, start a Macha trial with $50 of free usage and no card, or compare the tiers on Macha pricing.
