What Does AI Customer Support Cost for 1,000 Tickets a Month?
AI customer support for 1,000 billable units a month costs between $269 and $3,090 at published list prices in 2026, including the seats and platform fees each vendor requires, with a median of $999 across the 17 vendors that publish a comparable price. The low end is Richpanel at $269 and the high end is Lorikeet at $3,090. Those totals leave out the help desk that five standalone agents run on, and they count 1,000 of each vendor's own unit, which is a resolution for some vendors and any conversation the AI touches for others.
Key takeaways
- At 1,000 billable units a month, 17 AI support agents cost $269 to $3,090 including required seats and platform fees, with a median of $999.
- Richpanel ($269), eesel AI ($400 plus a help desk), Freshworks ($509) and HubSpot ($513 plus $1,500 once) are the four cheapest published totals at 1,000.
- Macha costs $599 for 1,000 tickets because that volume falls on its 1,500-ticket tier, an effective $0.60 a ticket rather than the $0.40 tier-cap rate.
- If the AI resolves 500 of 1,000 tickets, Zendesk costs $797.50 and HubSpot $288 plus $1,500 once, because per-resolution vendors bill only the resolutions.

Is 1,000 tickets the same as 1,000 billable units?
Only for vendors that bill every ticket. Per-attempt vendors such as Macha, eesel AI, Freshworks, Richpanel and Salesforce's conversation option bill each ticket or conversation the AI touches, so 1,000 tickets is 1,000 units. A per-resolution vendor bills only the tickets its AI closes.
Take 1,000 tickets where the AI resolves half. We ran the arithmetic on each vendor's published rate and included seat:
| Vendor | Units billed | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot | 500 resolutions (22,000 credits after the 3,000 included) | $90 seat + $198 = $288, plus $1,500 once |
| Help Scout | 500 resolutions | $25 seat + $375 = $400 |
| Intercom | 500 outcomes | $29 seat + $495 = $524 |
| Macha | 1,000 tickets | $599 |
| Zendesk | 495 resolutions after 5 included | $55 seat + $742.50 = $797.50 |
At a 50% resolution rate, HubSpot, Help Scout and Intercom all come in under Macha's $599. Help Scout's resolution is an AI chat session, so it only covers the chat share of your 1,000 tickets. Intercom also bills completed Procedures that end in a handoff, so treat its line as a floor. Its seat is the normal $29 Essential price; Intercom is testing $19 with some visitors.
Why does the price per ticket change at 1,000?
Several vendors sell volume in blocks, and 1,000 rarely sits on a block edge. Macha's tiers are $299 a month for 750 tickets, $599 for 1,500, $1,199 for 3,000, $1,999 for 5,000, $2,999 for 7,500 and $3,999 for 10,000, with custom pricing above that. Each cap works out to $0.40 a ticket, but 1,000 tickets needs the 1,500 tier, so you pay $599, or $0.60 per ticket used. Tidio's self-serve tiers stop at 1,000 conversations a month, so 1,000 is the most you can buy without talking to sales.
Fixed fees weigh more at this volume. Lorikeet's $2,100 plan fee is most of its $3,090, and Siena AI's $750 platform fee is charged at zero volume. The incentive behind a platform fee is a floor under the vendor's revenue whatever your volume. Lorikeet's effective rate falls from $3.79 per resolution at 750 to $1.20 at 10,000, so its pricing is built for larger queues. The 10,000-ticket breakdown shows how the ranking shifts at that volume.
Which option fits a 1,000-ticket team?
If you already run a help desk and want the AI to work every ticket, the agents that sit on top of it bill $400 (eesel AI) or $599 (Macha) with no seat added. If you expect a low resolution rate, a per-resolution vendor bills less because failures are free. Macha, which publishes the index, fits a 1,000-ticket team on Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom that would rather have the Macha team set up and monitor the agents than build them in-house; setup is included in the tier price.

Is anything cheaper than Richpanel at 1,000? Only vendors that bill smaller units. Chatbase comes to $80 for 1,000 AI replies, Microsoft Copilot Studio comes to $80 for 1,000 conversations at Microsoft's own 8-credit example, plus an Azure subscription, and Zoho Desk's Zia Agents cost one $7 Express user if the conversations stay inside 30 million free tokens a month. None of the three publishes a per-conversation price, so none is ranked in the cheapest AI support agent ranking.
