What Does AI Customer Support Cost for 10,000 Tickets a Month?
AI customer support at 10,000 billable units a month costs $2,000 to $20,000 in AI charges at published list prices in 2026, with a median of $8,625 across the 16 of 17 comparable vendors that publish a price at that volume. Richpanel is lowest at $2,000 and Salesforce highest at $20,000, with Zendesk and Gladly at $15,000 and Intercom at $9,900. Those figures exclude help desk seats, and they count 10,000 of each vendor's own unit, so a per-resolution vendor's column assumes 10,000 resolutions, not 10,000 tickets.
Key takeaways
- At 10,000 billable units a month, AI charges across 16 AI support vendors with a comparable published price run from $2,000 at Richpanel to $20,000 at Salesforce, with a median of $8,625.
- Zendesk and Gladly cost $15,000 for 10,000 resolutions a month at $1.50 each, and Intercom costs $9,900 for 10,000 outcomes at $0.99 each.
- Macha's 10,000-ticket tier costs $3,999 a month, which is $0.40 per ticket and $0.80 per resolution if the AI resolves half the tickets.
- If an AI resolves 5,000 of 10,000 tickets, Zendesk's per-resolution bill is $7,500 while per-ticket vendors such as eesel AI still bill all 10,000 tickets, for $4,000.
How much does each AI support agent cost at 10,000 a month?
These are AI charges only, from the AI Customer Support Pricing Index, including AI plan and platform fees but not help desk seats.
| Vendor | Unit billed | AI charges at 10,000 |
|---|---|---|
| Richpanel (medium) | Handled conversation | $2,000 |
| Macha | Ticket | $3,999 |
| eesel AI | Ticket | $4,000 |
| HubSpot | Resolution | $4,500 |
| Freshworks | Session | $4,900 |
| Botpress | Conversation | $5,000 |
| Help Scout | Resolution | $7,500 |
| Yuma AI | Resolution | $7,500 |
| Siena AI | Ticket | $9,750 |
| Intercom | Outcome | $9,900 |
| Alhena AI | Conversation credit | $11,559 |
| Lorikeet | Resolution | $12,000 |
| Gorgias | Resolution, excl. ticket fees | $14,682 |
| Zendesk (medium) | Resolution | $15,000 |
| Gladly (medium) | Resolution | $15,000 |
| Salesforce | Conversation | $20,000 |
"Medium" marks vendors whose own pages disagree with each other; the index explains each case. Tidio's self-serve tiers stop at 1,000 conversations, so it quotes 10,000 on request. Zendesk's pay-as-you-go rate of $2.00 would make its row $20,000. Two vendors that bill smaller units sit outside the table: Chatbase lists $390 for 10,000 AI replies, which are not conversations, and Microsoft Copilot Studio comes to $800 for 10,000 conversations at Microsoft's own 8-credit example, plus an Azure subscription. The index covers 32 vendors, so a vendor outside it may list a lower rate.
What does 10,000 tickets cost if the AI resolves half?
The table above overstates per-resolution bills, since few teams see 10,000 resolutions from 10,000 tickets. At a 50% resolution rate, per-resolution vendors bill 5,000 units and per-attempt vendors still bill 10,000. We used each per-resolution vendor's published 5,000 figure from the index, and the cost per resolution guide explains the conversion. The table below is a selection of eight vendors, not the full 16.
| Vendor | Units billed | AI charges | Per resolution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Richpanel (medium) | 10,000 conversations | $2,000 | $0.40 |
| HubSpot | 5,000 resolutions | $2,250 | $0.45 |
| Help Scout | 5,000 resolutions | $3,750 | $0.75 |
| Macha | 10,000 tickets | $3,999 | $0.80 |
| eesel AI | 10,000 tickets | $4,000 | $0.80 |
| Intercom | 5,000 outcomes | $4,950 | $0.99 |
| Zendesk | 5,000 resolutions | $7,500 | $1.50 |
| Salesforce | 10,000 conversations | $20,000 | $4.00 |
At 50%, HubSpot and Help Scout come in under the per-ticket agents, and Intercom lands $951 above Macha. The break-even against Macha's $3,999 differs by vendor: Intercom is cheaper below about a 40% resolution rate, Help Scout below about 53% and HubSpot below about 89%; our per-action versus per-resolution guide covers the trade-off.
Some per-resolution bills rise at 50% because escalations still cost something. Gladly charges $0.25 per AI Assist, so 5,000 resolutions plus 5,000 assisted escalations come to $7,500 + $1,250 = $8,750. Intercom bills completed Procedures that end in a handoff, so its $4,950 is a floor, and Gorgias adds its help desk ticket fee to the $7,182.
Why does volume change the ranking?
Fixed fees shrink per unit as volume grows: Lorikeet's $2,100 plan fee makes it $3.79 per resolution at 750 and $1.20 at 10,000. Flat-rate vendors such as Zendesk and Intercom multiply one rate by volume. At 1,000 tickets the fixed fees weigh far more; the 1,000-ticket breakdown has those totals with seats included.
The incentive differs by model. A per-attempt vendor's revenue is fixed by your ticket count whatever the AI achieves, so you absorb any month the AI underperforms. A per-resolution vendor's revenue rises with every resolution, so a month of 7,000 resolutions instead of 5,000 adds $1,500 to Help Scout's bill and $3,000 to Zendesk's.
Help desk costs sit on top of every row. Native vendors need their own seats (Richpanel's AI also needs its own help desk seat, $69 an agent on a yearly contract), and the standalone agents (Macha, eesel AI, Siena AI, Lorikeet and Yuma AI) run on a help desk you already pay for. Zendesk Suite Team is $55 per agent on annual billing and Salesforce Service Cloud Core is $195 per user. For a 20-agent team, an assumption for illustration, that's $1,100 a month on Zendesk and $3,900 on Salesforce before any AI charge.
Where does Macha sit at 10,000?
Macha publishes the index. It adds AI agents inside the help desk you already run, and 10,000 is its top published tier, $3,999 a month or $0.40 per ticket, with custom pricing above. The $0.40 holds at each tier cap and is higher between caps: 8,000 tickets still pay the 10,000 tier's $3,999, or $0.50 each. It bills per ticket, resolved or not, with setup and monitoring included and no seat or platform fee. It fits teams at this volume on Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom that want one fixed number for the month. If you expect a resolution rate under the break-evens above, HubSpot, Help Scout or Intercom bills less on AI charges, though HubSpot also needs a $90 seat and $1,500 onboarding.
