What Are the Best Bland AI Alternatives in 2026? 7 Options Priced at 10,000 Minutes
On December 5, 2025, Bland moved to plan-based pricing and its Start rate rose from $0.09 to $0.14 a minute, a 56% increase that is the most common reason to look elsewhere. Seven alternatives are priced here at 10,000 call minutes a month from their live pages, each matched to one reason for leaving.
Key takeaways
- At 10,000 minutes a month, LiveKit costs about $591, Retell AI about $1,144 and ElevenLabs Agents about $812, all less than Bland's Start plan at $1,400.
- Bland raised its per-minute rate on December 5, 2025, from $0.09 to $0.14 on the Start plan, $0.12 on Build and $0.11 on Scale.
- Bland's Start plan caps accounts at 10 concurrent calls and 100 calls a day, so a line averaging 114 weekday calls outgrows it before price matters.
- Retell AI has 814 reviews at 4.9 on Trustpilot and bills $0.07 to $0.31 a minute for voice, with 20 concurrent calls included.
- Synthflow now requires annual contracts starting at $30,000 a year, after closing its older self-serve plans to new subscriptions.
The best Bland AI alternatives are Retell AI, Vapi, ElevenLabs Agents and LiveKit for self-serve builders, and Synthflow, PolyAI and Cresta for contact centers on annual contracts. At 10,000 call minutes a month, LiveKit costs about $591, ElevenLabs about $812 and Retell about $1,144, all below Bland Start's $1,400 after its December 2025 rate rise to $0.14 a minute.
For the product itself, see our Bland AI complete guide. Most pages ranking for this search are written by Bland's competitors, including Retell, Lindy, Cresta and Synthflow; the AI Overview's shortlist (Retell, Synthflow, Vapi, PolyAI, Cresta) comes from them.
Which Bland alternative fits your reason for leaving?
| Why you're leaving Bland | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The new per-minute rate | Retell AI, ElevenLabs Agents or LiveKit | All three cost less than Bland's Start plan at 10,000 minutes |
| You want to choose your own models and carrier | Vapi or LiveKit | Providers at cost, bring your own keys and SIP trunk |
| You want evidence from other buyers | Retell AI | 4.9 on Trustpilot from 814 reviews |
| You're a contact center that wants a managed vendor | PolyAI or Cresta | Annual contracts sold through AWS Marketplace |
| You want an account team without building a platform team | Synthflow | Enterprise contracts from $30,000 a year |
Why do teams look for a Bland AI alternative?
Bland has almost no public reviews to read. On September 19, 2026 its Trustpilot page had 2 reviews (2.9), one from a profile named "Test Test" that we didn't use; Capterra had no Bland listing, TrustRadius had none, Gartner Peer Insights returned nothing, and G2 rates it 5 out of 5 from 11 reviews (checked September 19, 2026). So the reasons below come mostly from Bland's own documentation, plus two dated outside sources.
1. The price went up for small accounts. Bland's billing docs list the change directly: Start from $0.09 to $0.14 a minute, Build from $0.09 to $0.12 (on top of its $299 monthly fee) and Scale from $0.09 to $0.11 (on top of $499). Bland gave every organization a one-time credit based on its last 30 days of usage to soften the move. Cost was already the complaint before the change: in a Hacker News thread asking for an open-source Bland alternative, the poster (eaglehead, May 19, 2024) wrote, "Currently experimented with bland.ai but it gets expensive."
2. Caps on the cheap plan. Bland's pricing page limits Start to 10 concurrent calls and 100 calls a day; Build raises that to 50 and 2,000. At 2,500 calls a month, a support line averages about 83 calls a day across the month, or about 114 if the calls land on weekdays only, so Start's 100-call cap binds before its per-minute rate does. The $29.99 Agent Phone Plan handles one call at a time.
3. Billing terms that disagree with each other. The pricing FAQ says telephony is billed separately at pass-through, while the billing docs say SIP cost is included on Bland's endpoints. The docs also carry a banner that "Bland is getting a major upgrade" and that its docs are being updated "as users transition." Neither is a reason to leave on its own, but together they make a Bland bill harder to forecast than a Retell or ElevenLabs one.
4. Disclosure. In June 2024, WIRED ran "This Viral AI Chatbot Will Lie and Say It's Human," describing Bland's bot as "the latest example of 'human-washing' in AI." That report is more than two years old and we didn't retest the behavior, but if your legal team requires agents to disclose they're AI, confirm how Bland's current prompts and policies handle it, and do the same on any alternative.
Who should stay on Bland?
Bland still fits teams running outbound campaigns at volume. Its plans are built around calls per day, Enterprise has no daily cap, and offers on-prem or VPC deployment, a BAA, SSO and data residency, which few self-serve platforms match. Bland's page also promises "No token charges. No model-provider pass-throughs," so one number covers the model, which Vapi and Retell don't offer. If predictability per minute matters more than the lowest price, staying is reasonable.
How do the Bland alternatives compare?
Prices checked September 19, 2026 on each vendor's pricing page or AWS Marketplace listing. Ratings are Trustpilot unless noted.

What do the alternatives cost at 10,000 minutes?
We modeled an inbound line with a 4-minute average call, about 2,500 calls a month.
| Platform | 10,000 minutes a month | How we got there |
|---|---|---|
| Bland Start | $1,400 | 10,000 × $0.14; the 100-calls-a-day cap may force Build |
| Bland Build | $1,499 | $299 + 10,000 × $0.12 |
| Retell AI | $1,144 | $0.114 a minute (GPT 5.4 mini, platform voice, Retell telephony, knowledge base) + two $2 numbers |
| Vapi | $819–$1,290 | Vapi's calculator defaults (Deepgram, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Vapi telephony at $0) |
| ElevenLabs Agents | about $812 + telephony | Pro $99 + 8,762 × $0.08 + about $12 of Gemini 2.5 Flash |
| LiveKit Cloud (Ship) | about $591 | $50 plan + $50 session minutes + $99 inbound minutes + $367 inference + $25 recordings |
| Synthflow (estimate) | $2,500 | $30,000 annual floor ÷ 12 |
| PolyAI | $14,583 minimum | AWS: $175,000 a year for up to 500,000 minutes |
| Cresta | $12,500 minimum | AWS: $150,000 a year for Agent Assist for Voice, up to 100,000 calls |
Four self-serve alternatives come in under Bland's Start plan: LiveKit, ElevenLabs, Vapi (across its whole range) and Retell. At the old $0.09 rate, the same 10,000 minutes on Bland cost $900, which is why accounts that were happy in 2025 are shopping now.
What are the 7 best Bland AI alternatives?
Retell AI
Retell is the AI Overview's "best balanced" pick and the platform with the review record Bland lacks: 4.9 on Trustpilot from 814 reviews and, in our pricing post's read the same day, 4.8 on G2 from 2,638. Its pricing page lists $0.07 to $0.31 a minute by component, 20 concurrent calls included and $8 a month per extra line, with no daily call cap on the page.
A typical support stack costs about $0.114 a minute, or $1,144 at 10,000 minutes, $256 less than Bland Start. The watch-out is the reverse of Bland's: every component is its own line, so you pick the model and voice and the rate moves with them. Retell users also complain about support that runs through an AI and Discord and about blocked international destinations; our Retell AI alternatives guide has the details. Choose it if you want a builder, published prices and a large review base. See our Retell AI guide.
Vapi
Vapi charges $0.05 a minute for hosting and passes the transcriber, model and voice through at cost; its calculator puts 10,000 minutes at $819 to $1,290. You can bring your own keys and SIP trunk, which matters if you left Bland because you wanted a specific model or carrier. Vapi is also on AWS Marketplace at $0.05 a minute.
Its reviews are the weak point: 2.4 on Trustpilot from 15, with complaints about lag and slow support, and the usage-only tier lists Discord peer support and email "without SLA." Our Vapi alternatives guide goes through them. Choose it if you have developers who want every layer under their control. See our Vapi guide.
ElevenLabs Agents
ElevenLabs charges $0.08 for every call minute on every plan, from Starter ($6, 75 minutes) to Business ($990, 12,375 minutes), per its Agents pricing page. Like Bland, that's one headline rate; unlike Bland, the model is passed through at cost (fractions of a cent a minute for small models) and telephony comes from your carrier.
At 10,000 minutes on Pro it's about $812 before telephony, $588 less than Bland Start; a Twilio local number adds roughly $86. Voice quality is ElevenLabs' core product. The watch-out is prepaid overage: new self-serve customers draw extra minutes from a balance, and service pauses at zero if auto top-up is off. Choose it if voice quality matters most and you're comfortable topping up a usage balance. See our ElevenLabs Agents guide.
LiveKit
LiveKit is the open-source route the Hacker News poster was asking for. Its agent framework is Apache-2.0 licensed and runs on your own servers, and LiveKit Cloud hosts it from $0 (Build) or $50 a month (Ship, 5,000 agent-session minutes and 20 concurrent sessions included), per its pricing page.
With the calculator's default models, 10,000 minutes on Ship comes to about $591, the lowest row here. You write code in Python or Node.js; there's no no-code builder. Choose it if you have engineers and want to stop paying a platform margin per minute.
Synthflow
Synthflow is the AI Overview's "no-code / budget" pick, but that description predates its pricing change: new contracts now start at $30,000 a year, and its docs say the older self-serve plans are closed. What you get is an account team, launch support and contracted SLAs.
At $2,500 a month before a single call, it only beats Bland above roughly 31,000 minutes a month. Trustpilot shows 4.1 from 215 reviews, mostly from before the change. Choose it if you want a vendor account team and contracted SLAs and your volume is high enough to absorb the floor. Our Synthflow alternatives guide and Synthflow guide cover it.
PolyAI
PolyAI designs, builds and runs the agent for you; its pricing page says per-minute pricing "includes proactive performance improvements, maintenance and 24/7 support." Its AWS Marketplace listing sets the entry point: $175,000 for 500,000 minutes over 12 months, $0.35 a minute, no refunds.
That's for contact centers above about 42,000 minutes a month that would rather pay a vendor than staff voice engineers. Choose it if you want the agent designed and run for you and your volume clears that floor. See our PolyAI guide.
Cresta
Cresta sells contact-center AI (agent assist, conversation intelligence and AI agents) to large operations. Its public price is on AWS Marketplace: 12-month contracts at $150,000 for "Agent Assist for Voice, up to 100,000 call subscription," with the same price for chat and usage billing above the contract.
That SKU is for helping human agents, not for an autonomous phone agent, so it isn't a like-for-like swap for Bland. It belongs on the list because the AI Overview names it and because a contact center replacing Bland often wants assist and automation from one vendor. Choose it if you run a large human team on Genesys, Five9 or Amazon Connect. See our Cresta guide.
What does each billing model reward?
Bland's move to plan-based rates has a clear incentive: lower per-minute prices on higher plans push accounts from Start ($0) to Build ($299) and, in the billing docs, Scale ($499), where Bland earns a platform fee every month whatever the volume. Bland's docs call it "a clearer upgrade path."
| Billing unit | Platforms | What it rewards | Your exposure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan fee + one rate | Bland | Upgrading to a paid plan | The platform fee, and daily call caps |
| Per minute, by component | Retell, Vapi, LiveKit | Heavier models and longer calls | Model choice moves the rate |
| Plan minutes at a flat rate | ElevenLabs | Longer calls | Telephony billed separately |
| Annual contract | Synthflow, PolyAI, Cresta | Fixed revenue for the vendor | Unused minutes below the floor |
What moves when you switch from Bland?
Pathways and prompts need rebuilding. Bland's conversational pathways are its own format. Export the prompts, node text and variables and recreate the flow; the prompt text carries over, the structure doesn't.
Numbers. If you use your own carrier (Bland calls this BYOT) or a SIP trunk, re-point it at the new platform. For Bland-provided numbers, confirm porting with Bland before you cancel; we didn't find a porting procedure in its docs.
Calls in flight. Outbound campaigns should finish or pause before the switch; daily call caps on the new platform may differ from Bland's.
Test disclosure. Whatever platform you land on, check that the agent says it's an AI when asked, and keep a recording of that test.
What if your queue is tickets, not calls?
If your volume is mostly email and chat in a help desk, a voice platform isn't the right tool. Macha is an AI agent layer on Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom: agents read and reply inside the ticket, billing is per ticket from $299 a month for 750 tickets, and setup and monitoring by the Macha team are included. It fits teams already on one of those help desks and doesn't take phone calls. The tiers are on our pricing page, and our guide to AI agents for customer service covers where voice and ticket agents each fit.
How did we research this?
On September 19, 2026 we checked Bland's pricing page and billing and Agent Phone Plan docs, the pricing pages of all seven alternatives, and the PolyAI and Cresta listings on AWS Marketplace. We looked for Bland reviews on Trustpilot, Capterra, TrustRadius and Gartner Peer Insights and found almost none; G2 shows 11 reviews (5 out of 5, checked September 19, 2026) and the Reddit thread on this SERP wouldn't load, so the user quote comes from Hacker News and the disclosure concern from WIRED's June 2024 headline. We did not build agents, create accounts or place calls on any platform, so every cost comes from published rates and our stated assumptions.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Bland AI? For most teams, Retell AI: it costs about $1,144 at 10,000 minutes against Bland Start's $1,400, includes 20 concurrent calls, and has 814 Trustpilot reviews at 4.9. Developers who want to pick every component should look at Vapi or LiveKit.
Why did Bland's price go up? Bland moved to plan-based pricing on December 5, 2025. Its docs say Start went from $0.09 to $0.14 a minute, Build to $0.12 and Scale to $0.11, so that "higher tiers now get better rates." On September 24, 2026 the public pricing page listed only Start, Build and Enterprise; Scale appears in the billing docs.
Is there an open-source alternative to Bland? Yes. LiveKit's agent framework (Apache-2.0) and Pipecat (BSD-2-Clause) are open source and free to self-host; you pay for servers, models and a carrier. LiveKit Cloud starts free and costs about $591 at 10,000 minutes with its default models.
Is Bland AI any good? It's hard to tell from public reviews: Trustpilot has 2, and Capterra and TrustRadius have none. Bland's strengths are outbound volume, one rate that includes the model, and Enterprise options like VPC deployment and a BAA.
Is Retell cheaper than Bland? At 10,000 minutes, yes: about $1,144 for a typical Retell stack against $1,400 on Bland Start or $1,499 on Build.
Does Bland charge for telephony? Its pricing FAQ says telephony is billed separately at pass-through; its billing docs say SIP cost is included on Bland's endpoints. Ask Bland which applies to your numbers.
Which Bland alternative is best for a contact center? PolyAI for a managed AI phone agent ($175,000 a year on AWS for 500,000 minutes), or Cresta if you also want agent assist for a large human team ($150,000 a year on AWS for up to 100,000 calls).
If your support volume sits in a help desk rather than on the phone, you can start a Macha trial with $50 of free usage and no card, or see our tiers on the pricing page.
