What Does Freddy AI (and AI on Freshdesk) Cost to Implement and Run? (2026)
Freddy AI on Freshdesk costs nothing to switch on, then $49 per 100 AI Agent sessions once a one-time allowance of 500 free sessions is gone, per Freshworks' pricing page on October 14, 2026. At 1,500 email tickets a month that's about $833 a month in our example. Setup varies the most by route: $0 if your admin builds it, a private quote from Freshworks' services team, £628 to £1,200 a day on one partner's public rate card, or included in the monthly price from vendors that run their own agent. Our year-one estimates at 1,500 tickets a month run from about $9,300 to $45,400.
Key takeaways
- Freddy AI Agent costs $49 per 100 sessions after 500 free sessions that Freshworks gives once per account, and Freshworks' AI Agent Studio article says previews draw on them too.
- At 1,500 email tickets a month and 1.1 sessions a ticket, Freddy AI Agent costs about $833 a month in our example, whether it resolves 30% or 50% of tickets.
- Freshworks quotes its services through its sales team or your Account Manager; its chatbot package covers 40 hours that expire 8 weeks after kickoff, and Xcession's G-Cloud 15 card runs £628 to £1,200 a day onshore.
- In our year-one estimates at 1,500 tickets a month, Freddy built in-house costs about $16,000 once your admin's hours count, against about $9,300 for Macha and $45,400 for Fini.
- Macha has no setup fee and costs $299/month for 750 tickets, with setup and a dedicated success manager included, and promises live in safe mode within 7 days, or your first month is free.
Disclosure: Macha publishes this blog and sells one of the vendor-led options priced below. What does Freddy AI Agent cost to run at 500, 1,500 and 5,000 tickets?
Freshworks bills Freddy AI Agent per session, which its pricing page defines as "a unique interaction between an end-user and an AI Agent". An email session is a 72-hour window from the customer's first email, and every AI reply inside it counts once. Chat sessions on Freshdesk Omni and Freshchat run 24 hours. The price is the same on Growth, Pro and Enterprise: the first 500 sessions are included, "limited to once per account", and after that sessions cost $49 per 100, about $0.49 each.
Assumptions (ours): Freddy is deployed to every email ticket; 10% of tickets run past the 72-hour window because the customer writes back later, so each ticket averages 1.1 sessions; packs are bought in whole hundreds each month.
| Email tickets a month | Sessions (1.1 a ticket) | Packs of 100 | Monthly cost | Cost per resolution at 30% / 50% resolved |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 550 | 6 | $294 | $1.96 / $1.18 |
| 1,500 | 1,650 | 17 | $833 | $1.85 / $1.11 |
| 5,000 | 5,500 | 55 | $2,695 | $1.80 / $1.08 |
The middle row: 1,650 sessions round up to 17 packs, and 17 x $49 = $833. At 30% resolved that's 450 resolutions, so $833 / 450 = $1.85 each. The resolution rate changes what each resolution costs, not the bill, because a session is billed whether the agent solved the ticket or handed it to a person.
Three details change the first-year bill:
- The 500 free sessions are a trial, not a monthly allowance. At 500 tickets a month they cover most of one month, once.
- Testing may spend them. Freshworks' docs disagree. Its AI Agent Studio article says "previewing will consume sessions", while its Email AI Agent setup article says an email preview doesn't "consume message limits". We assume the worst case: if your admin runs 200 previews while building, 300 free sessions are left for live tickets. Ask Freshworks which applies to your account.
- Packs expire with your billing cycle. Freshworks' FAQ says that if you pay quarterly, sessions expire quarterly, so unused sessions don't carry over.
Our Freddy pricing vs an AI agent layer post runs the same meter at 3,000 tickets and compares unit prices; this page adds the setup and the people around it.
The Freshdesk plans, seats and add-ons around Freddy
Freddy AI Agent comes with every paid plan. Copilot, Insights and the testing sandbox don't.
| Item | Growth | Pro | Enterprise | Source (October 14, 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk seat, billed annually | $19 | $55 | $89 | Freshdesk pricing |
| Freshdesk Omni seat, billed annually | $29 | $79 | $119 | Omni pricing |
| Freddy AI Agent sessions | 500 once, then $49 per 100 | Same | Same | Freshdesk pricing |
| Freddy AI Copilot | Not offered | $29 per agent a month | $29 per agent a month | Freshdesk pricing |
| Freddy AI Insights, Sandbox | No | No | Included | Freshdesk pricing |
| Multilingual help desk | Not listed | Included | Included | Freshdesk pricing |
| MCP actions a year | 1,200 | 6,000 | 12,000 | $15 per 1,000 extra |
| Connector app tasks | $80 per 5,000 | $80 per 5,000 | $80 per 5,000 | Freshdesk pricing |
Copilot is the line teams forget. It drafts and summarizes for your human agents and doesn't answer customers, and you can buy it for some agents only. On a 6-agent team, Copilot is 6 x $29 = $174 a month, and a Growth team has to move to Pro first: 6 x ($55 - $19) = $216 a month more in seats. Our Copilot vs an AI agent layer post covers when it's worth it.
Plain Freshdesk accounts get the Email AI Agent only, per Freshworks' setup article. Web chat and messaging agents, with AI Agent Studio's workflows, come with Freshdesk Omni or Freshchat. Seats are the same on every route below, so the year-one table leaves them out.
What does setup cost by route?
| Route | Setup price | Time to live | What's included | What's left out | Source (read October 14, 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Your admin, Freddy AI Agent | $0 | No timeline from Freshworks | Help articles; Preview and Evaluate (up to 50 queries a run) | All the work; previews consume sessions | Freshworks help center |
| Freelancer | Upwork's showcased Freshdesk freelancers charged $27 to $110 an hour, "$500-$1,500 per project" typical; PeoplePerHour $10 to $67 an hour, one $240 "AI Integration" offer | Days to weeks | One bounded job | Tuning after handoff | Our Freshdesk partners research |
| Freshworks Professional Services | Quote only: the ACT data sheet says "consult with your sales team"; the Managed Services, Admin Coaching and Health Assessment sheets say "please contact your Account Manager" | Chatbot package hours expire 8 weeks after kickoff | Chatbot (ACT) package: 40 hours, up to 8 a week, designs for up to three simple workflows, one-hour admin training, hypercare | Extra hours "charged based on scope"; integrations outside the Marketplace priced separately | ACT data sheet, Optimization data sheet |
| Freshworks partner, day rates | Xcession: £628 to £1,200 a day onshore, £350 to £1,100 near shore, £175 to £750 offshore, for a 7.5-hour day | Not published | Freshdesk design, Freddy AI agent design and Copilot work | Work after the project unless you buy its application management service | Xcession on G-Cloud 15 |
| Freshworks partner, fixed offers | OPCX: £495 data review, £995 blueprint (£500 credited to a package); AI Enablement priced after discovery. Haass: "scoped separately", 2 to 4 weeks for most clients | 2 to 4 weeks (Haass) | Discovery, then a scoped build | The AI build's price | Our Freshdesk partners list |
| Vendor-led, AdelanteCX | No setup fee; $900 a month includes 5,000 AI messages, extra messages $0.18 each | 10 days, per its homepage, which names Freshdesk | Implementation, training, workflow setup and ongoing optimization | No free trial; a 30-day money-back window instead | AdelanteCX pricing |
| Vendor-led, Fini | "Implementation included" | "Goes live in 14 days" | Setup inside Growth, $3,600 a month for 2,000 resolved tickets, per the page's structured data | The visible card shows only $0.89 per resolution; the page also advertises a resolution guarantee for eligible new enterprise customers, with its own terms | Fini pricing |
| Vendor-led, Macha (ours) | No setup fee | Safe mode within 7 days | Ticket analysis, knowledge base, agent build, testing and tuning by Macha's team | Nothing extra; the free trial includes the same setup | Macha pricing |
To turn a day rate into a project price, use Freshworks' own package as the scope. Its chatbot package is 40 hours, about 5.3 days of 7.5 hours. At Xcession's onshore rates that's £3,349 to £6,400, or about $4,437 to $8,478 at the European Central Bank's October 13, 2026 rates (our arithmetic). Freshworks' Professional Services, Managed Services and Admin Coaching data sheets carry no price at all.
What does it cost after launch?
After launch, someone reads Freddy's conversations each week, sorts the misses, fixes the solution article or instruction behind each one, and decides the next mailbox or category. Freshworks' pricing page promises "actionable guidance to continuously improve AI resolutions"; someone on your team still has to act on it.
| After-launch model | Published price (October 14, 2026) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Your own admin | No invoice; our estimate is 2 to 4 hours a week | Freddy's improvement guidance, which someone has to act on |
| Freshworks Managed Services | "Please contact your Account Manager" (data sheet) | System administration, configuration of new features and integrations, and ongoing training, scoped with your Account Manager |
| Freshworks Admin Coaching | Price via your Account Manager | 75-minute weekly sessions for five weeks, so your admin can run it (data sheet) |
| Partner support | Not published; Haass sells hypercare and ongoing support, B-TRNSFRMD managed support that tunes Freddy, Xcession an application management service | Tuning within the contract (partners list) |
| Vendor-led | Inside the monthly price: ongoing optimization at AdelanteCX, shared customer success at Fini, setup and a dedicated success manager at Macha | The vendor's team handles changes; you approve them |
Every project route has an end date. The chatbot package's hours expire 8 weeks after kickoff, and its last step is an admin training so your team can "maintain and update configuration moving forward". The Optimization package ends with "a two-week hypercare period", then a handover to your Customer Success Manager. The incentive follows the business model. A services team earns on hours, so after-launch work is a bounded hypercare or a new contract, and Freshworks' session meter earns the same whether Freddy's answer was right or not. A vendor billing a monthly fee keeps the account only while the agent keeps answering well, so tuning is part of what it sells. Our hidden costs of AI support pricing shows the same pattern on every help desk.
What does year one cost per route at 1,500 tickets a month?
This is our estimate for one Freshdesk team with 1,500 email tickets a month. Every assumption is listed so you can swap in your own.
Assumptions (ours, except where a source is named):
- Freshdesk seats and Copilot are the same on every route, so they're left out.
- Freddy launches around week 4 and runs 11 months at 17 packs: 11 x $833 = $9,163. In the worst case, the 500 free sessions cover 200 previews and 300 live sessions, which saves 3 packs ($147), so Freddy costs $9,016 in year one. If email previews are free, all 500 go live, saving 5 packs ($245), and Freddy costs $8,918.
- Your team's time is valued at $40 an hour, over a 52-week year.
- Where your team owns tuning, it takes 3 hours a week. Included support counts from kickoff, so your tuning starts when it ends: an 8-week package leaves 52 - 8 = 44 weeks for you.
- Where a vendor tunes, your part is 1 hour a week of review for 50 weeks.
- Your setup hours: 30 on DIY, 10 alongside a freelancer, 15 alongside a partner, 5 for AdelanteCX and Fini, 2 for Macha (a call and connecting Freshdesk).
- DIY: tuning weeks 4 to 52, 48 weeks, 144 hours.
- Freelancer: $1,500, the top of Upwork's typical range; launch in week 4, two weeks of help, then you tune 46 weeks (138 hours).
- Partner: 40 hours at Xcession's onshore rates, $4,437 to $8,478; we assume the same 8-week window as Freshworks' package (Xcession's listing gives none), so you review 4 hours in weeks 5 to 8, then tune 44 weeks (132 hours).
- AdelanteCX at 4 AI messages a ticket, the middle of its "3 to 5": 6,000 messages, so $900 + 1,000 x $0.18 = $1,080 a month. Fini Growth stays inside 2,000 resolved tickets. Macha works all 1,500 tickets, so the 1,500-ticket tier applies ($599/month for 1,500 tickets). On vendor rows, Freddy is off.
| Route | Setup cash | Software in year one | Your team's time (hours x $40) | Year-one total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Your admin, Freddy AI Agent | $0 | Freddy $9,016 | 30 + 144 = 174 h, $6,960 | $15,976 |
| Freelancer, then you | $1,500 | Freddy $9,016 | 10 + 138 = 148 h, $5,920 | $16,436 |
| Partner, 40 hours, then you | $4,437 to $8,478 | Freddy $9,016 | 15 + 4 + 132 = 151 h, $6,040 | $19,493 to $23,534 |
| AdelanteCX | $0 | 12 x $1,080 = $12,960 | 5 + 50 = 55 h, $2,200 | $15,160 |
| Fini Growth | $0 | 12 x $3,600 = $43,200 ($36,000 billed yearly) | 5 + 50 = 55 h, $2,200 | $45,400 |
| Macha (ours) | $0 | 12 x $599 = $7,188 | 2 + 50 = 52 h, $2,080 | $9,268 |
Freshworks Professional Services isn't in the table because it publishes no price; if your Account Manager quotes the chatbot package, put that figure in the partner row's setup cash.
On cash alone, Freddy run by your own admin costs $9,016, more than Macha's $7,188 at this volume, and the 174 hours take the DIY total to about $16,000. Freddy gets cheaper when you scope it: deploy it to one mailbox that carries 600 of the 1,500 tickets and the sessions fall to 660, or 7 packs at $343 a month.
The rows don't buy the same work. Freddy bills a session every time it engages, resolved or not. Fini bills per resolution against a monthly allowance, AdelanteCX per AI message, and Macha per ticket worked, drafting or replying on all 1,500. A Freddy agent that resolves 50% instead of 30% costs the same $833 a month, so its cost per resolution falls; Fini's bill rises with its resolutions once you pass 2,000. Our cost per resolution guide converts the units.
We left out routes we can't price: Freshworks' services, partner retainers and Managed Services publish no figures.
What changes the price on Freshdesk?
| Factor | Why it changes the cost | Price signal (October 14, 2026 unless noted) |
|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk Omni vs Freshdesk plus Freshchat | Chat AI agents need Omni or Freshchat; two products means two seat bills | Omni Growth $29 a seat against $19 + $19 for Freshdesk and Freshchat Growth |
| Chat sessions | Chat sessions last 24 hours, email 72, so a customer who comes back the next day opens another session | $49 per 100 either way; 1,500 chats at one session each are 15 packs, $735 a month (our arithmetic) |
| Customers replying late | Each reply after 72 hours opens a new email session | Our 1.1 a ticket is an assumption; check yours |
| Multiple products and portals | Each product has its own mailbox, portal and articles, so the agent is scoped per brand | Multiple Products: none on Growth, 5 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise (multi-product setup) |
| Languages | Multilingual help desk is listed from Pro | $55 a seat against $19 on Growth |
| Integrations | Connectors and MCP actions are metered; API limits are per account | $80 per 5,000 connector tasks; $15 per 1,000 MCP actions; 100, 400 or 700 API calls a minute (rate limits) |
| Ecommerce order lookups | Answers need the order system; Freddy's three Shopify workflow templates only read orders | A refund or address change needs an API action someone builds (ecommerce guide) |
| A migration or redesign | Never inside an AI price | Partner day rates (migration checklist) |
Our Freshchat vs Freshdesk post explains the product split. On Macha, Shopify and Stripe are built-in tools, and anything else with an API connects through a custom API tool that Macha's team sets up during onboarding, at no extra charge. Macha connects to Freshdesk, not Freshchat, so on Omni it works the tickets that arrive in Freshdesk: email, portal and web forms.
How can you cut the cost of AI on Freshdesk?
- Spend the 500 free sessions on purpose. Build and write instructions first, preview in batches with Evaluate, then go live while some free sessions remain.
- Scope Freddy with custom rules. Deploy it to the mailbox or ticket type it answers well. Tickets it never engages cost nothing.
- Match packs to your billing cycle. On monthly billing, buy for steady volume and top up for peaks.
- Buy Copilot per agent. Freshworks sells it for any number of agents, so start with the people who write the most replies.
- Write the AI work into any services contract. The Optimization package prices custom integrations separately, and partners scope AI after discovery.
- Plan who tunes in week 9. If included hours end at week 8, budget 3 hours a week of your admin's time or a support contract.
- Try a setup before paying for one. Macha's free trial is $50 of free usage (about 125 tickets), no credit card, no time limit, with the same done-for-you setup, so you see drafts on your own Freshdesk tickets first.
Which route costs least for your situation?
These rows compare totals, not identical work: Freddy bills per session, Fini per resolution, AdelanteCX per AI message and Macha per ticket worked.
| You are | Lowest-cost route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A Freshdesk Growth team under 500 email tickets a month, with good solution articles | Your admin, Freddy AI Agent | $294 a month at 500 tickets in our example, and the free 500 sessions cover a real test |
| A Freshdesk team with nobody to tune the agent | Vendor-led | Tuning sits in the monthly price; your part is about an hour a week |
| A Shopify brand on Freshdesk email with no developer | Vendor-led, or Freddy if an admin can build API actions | Freddy's Shopify templates only read orders |
| A team that wants faster human replies, not a bot | Freddy AI Copilot | $29 per agent a month on Pro and Enterprise |
| A team on Freshdesk Omni with most volume on chat or WhatsApp | Freddy chat agents, with a partner for complex workflows | Chat workflows live on Omni and Freshchat |
| A multi-brand team on Pro or Enterprise | Any route, scoped per product | Wrong-brand answers cost more than sessions |
| A team migrating to Freshdesk or a UK public body | A Freshworks partner for the project | Migration is never inside an AI package; Xcession sells through G-Cloud |
Where Macha fits
Macha is one of the vendor-led options for Freshdesk, and it's ours. Macha's team classifies about a month of your past Freshdesk tickets, builds the knowledge base for the first category, builds the agent on your existing Freshdesk and runs it in safe mode, with drafts as private notes, until your team approves them. Live in safe mode within 7 days, or your first month is free. Your part is a 30-minute call, about 15 minutes to connect Freshdesk and the tools answers come from, and about 5 minutes a day reviewing drafts.
It costs about $0.40 per ticket, which includes setup and a dedicated success manager who handles new categories, policy changes and new tools, on one plan priced by monthly ticket volume: $299 a month for 750 tickets, $599 for 1,500, $1,199 for 3,000, $1,999 for 5,000, $2,999 for 7,500 and $3,999 for 10,000, with custom pricing above that. There's no setup fee and no retainer, because the done-for-you setup and the tuning are the product. The Freshdesk connector uses a Freshdesk API key. Macha suits teams already running Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Front, HubSpot or Intercom who want email tickets worked end to end, including the order lookups an article can't answer, without anyone on staff maintaining the AI. It doesn't replace a Freshworks partner for a migration or a Freshdesk redesign, or Freddy for chat on Freshchat, and if your admin wants to own every instruction, Freddy in-house is a fair choice. See Macha on Freshdesk, or request the free support audit to see which category to start with.
Common questions
How much does Freddy AI cost per month?
Freddy AI Agent costs $49 per 100 sessions after 500 free sessions that Freshworks gives once per account. In our example, 1,500 email tickets a month at 1.1 sessions each cost $833 a month. Copilot is $29 per agent a month on Pro and Enterprise, and seats are extra.
Does Freshworks charge a setup fee for Freddy AI?
No. Freddy AI Agent is included on Growth, Pro and Enterprise, and you pay only for sessions. Freshworks' Professional Services packages are separate and quoted by Freshworks' sales team or your Account Manager.
What does a Freshworks partner charge to set up Freddy AI?
Most partners quote after a call. The one public rate card we found, Xcession's on G-Cloud 15, runs £628 to £1,200 a day onshore and £175 to £750 offshore. Scoped at Freshworks' own 40-hour chatbot package, that's about $4,437 to $8,478 at onshore rates, in our arithmetic.
Do Freddy AI Agent sessions roll over?
No. Freshworks says session validity matches your payment cycle, so sessions bought on quarterly billing expire at the end of the quarter. The 500 free sessions don't renew either.
Who pays for tuning Freddy after launch?
On the DIY, freelancer and partner routes, your team does once the included hours end: 8 weeks after kickoff on Freshworks' chatbot package. Managed Services and partner support contracts are quoted privately. AdelanteCX, Fini and Macha include ongoing work in their monthly price.
Is Freddy cheaper than a third-party agent on Freshdesk?
It depends on scope. Deployed to all 1,500 tickets in our example, Freddy costs $9,016 in year one against $7,188 for Macha; scoped to 600 tickets it costs about $343 a month. Our cross-desk implementation cost guide runs the same comparison on other help desks, and our Gorgias, HubSpot and Front versions use the same method.
How we researched this
On October 14, 2026 we checked the raw HTML of Freshworks' Freshdesk, Freshdesk Omni and Freshchat pricing pages, including their FAQs on sessions, packs and the 500 free sessions, plus Freshworks' AI Agent Studio and Email AI Agent help articles. We downloaded the services data sheets linked from Freshworks' services page (chatbot package, Optimization, Managed Services, Admin Coaching, Health Assessment). We read the pricing pages of AdelanteCX and Fini; Fini's Growth fee comes from the page's structured data, not its price card. Xcession's G-Cloud 15 rates and the freelancer and partner prices come from our Freshdesk partners research the same day, and the GBP to USD conversion uses the European Central Bank's October 13 reference rates. Plan limits for API calls, Multiple Products and Shopify templates come from our own Freshdesk guides, which cite Freshworks' docs. Sessions per ticket, resolution rates, hours, the hourly rate and launch weeks are our assumptions, not anyone's published figures, and nobody can promise a resolution rate before seeing your tickets. We didn't hire Freshworks, a partner or a freelancer for this page, and none paid for placement.
